Councilmember Mark Treyger says much more needs to be done to make sure students have the best school year as they adapt learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Fact remains we are not ready, not enough staffing, and we need to be honest with New Yorkers,” said Treyger.
As of Monday, 14 school buildings reported a case where the infected individual was in the building and now close contacts are now quarantined.
The Department of Education says 65 teachers out of 19,400 teachers tested positive for the coronavirus, making the infection rate among teachers up to .34%.
This can be compared to last week’s numbers where 61 cases were reported and there was an infection rate of .33%.
