The countdown to the West Indian American Day Parade on Labor Day is on.

News 12 Brooklyn got a sneak peak at the Crossfire Steel Orchestra, one of the bands that will treat crowds to a taste of the Caribbean.

The orchestra has been around for 15 years with about 80 members. They are New Yorkers of all different ages and ethnicities. They say their goal is to educate young people of Caribbean and non-Caribbean backgrounds about the steel pan art form.

"This is my way of giving back to the children of New York," said Martin Douglas, the band's leader.
