The political landscape in The Bronx is in for a shakeup after a federal court approved the redistricting of congressional lines.

The new districts are meant to represent data collected in the 2010 census and will have a big impact on future elections in the borough. Under the plan, Congressman Charlie Rangel's 13th District will extend to parts of the north Bronx, including Kingsbridge and Norwood.

Also under the plan, Congressman Joseph Crowley's 14th District will represent a larger portion of the borough, while Congressmen Jose Serrano and Eliot Engel's 16th and 17th districts largely remain the same.

Federal judges said they had to step in to designate the new districts ahead of the June 26 congressional primaries because New York State legislators failed to do it on their own.
