A fire at a Crown Heights high-rise building sent two people to the hospital overnight, leaving an elderly women in critical condition.
Officials say it began at around midnight on the top floor of the William Reed Houses on East New York Avenue.
Housing Authority workers are now rushing to restore elevator service, after it was damaged due to the water used to extinguish the flames. Those who live in the building are predominately senior citizens, ?The people in wheel chairs in the upper floors, they're trapped and some of them have doctor appointments, some of them are on dialysis and they can't get down," says Shirley Blake.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the Red Cross has been called in to help displaced tenants.
