A Crown Heights congregation is fighting eviction from the church they go to worship.The St. Mary Church Of God In Christ on Schenectady Avenue has been rented from a neighboring church for the last 18 years. Congregation members say they?ve donated thousands of dollars to maintain the roof and install bathrooms and a gas line. The pastor says they also house a school with about two-dozen students that study music on the weekends.The congregation is fighting the eviction and hopes to be able to raise enough money to buy the church property.
