A number of Crown Heights residents are blasting a new restaurant with decorative bullet holes in its walls.
Becca Brennan, the owner of Summerhill, promoted her business by hyping its "bullet-hole ridden wall," 40-ounce bottles of rosé and the space's alleged history as an illegal gun shop.
But some neighborhood residents boycotted the business in a protest last Saturday, saying the want to see it closed because of the owner's insensitivity.
Brennan apologized in a statement for any offense her comments caused and says she did not intend to be insensitive. She admitted that the bullet holes were just cosmetic damage, but will maintain the distressed wall because of the aesthetic.
Brennan reached out to the organizers of Saturday's protest, saying she would like to discuss their concerns. But some tell News 12 that they're not sure whether they're interested in a discourse.
