A Crown Heights resident says she feels trapped in her apartment because her building has no gas and the elevator and intercom do not work.
Constance Whitehorn-Tillett has resorted to getting her food delivered because there's no gas to cook and the elevator and intercom do not work.
Whitehorn-Tillett has lived in the building for more than 30 years, but she says she never had a problem until last year, when Safe Guard Realty took over. She says there's been ongoing construction and offers by management to buy out tenants.
Then in May, there was a notice in the elevator that gas would be shut off indefinitely. The elevator has been working on and off since April, until Saturday when it stopped working completely. Whitehorn-Tillett says she feels that management is trying to push her out, but that she's not going without a fight.
The Department of Buildings has at least 11 complaints for the property on its website including the elevator being out of service.
News 12 tried to contact the management company multiple times. One employee said to contact the main office but News 12 was unable to leave a message.
