A beloved pastor and his wife were memorialized in Crown Heights on Sunday with a street naming ceremony.
The southwest section of Eastern Parkway and Rogers Avenue has been renamed for the Rev. Dr. Clarence Norman Sr. and his wife, Ellen.
Norman founded First Baptist Church in the area over 60 years ago. He also helped create hundreds of affordable and senior housing units and was a pillar in the community. Ellen Norman was on the church usher board, and was always at his side.
Rev. Clarence Norman Sr. passed away 16 months ago and his wife passed away six months later.
