The Cycle
Alliance, a pro-period teenage advocacy group, gathered at the Brooklyn
Library on Saturday to hand out menstrual packages equipped with pads and
tampons to help people in need, and to educate Brooklyn residents about the
female cycle.
The group says
periods are natural, not shameful. They’re fighting for worldwide accessibility
to feminine hygiene products, and continued funding for free menstrual products
for women incarcerated in New York.
The group also
created a petition aimed at making feminine hygiene products available for
purchase through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Anyone
interested in learning more about the Alliance can find out more information at
the Brooklyn Library in Prospect Park.
