Reputed members of two Brownsville-based gangs could be facing decades behind bars.
Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez announced Tuesday that 32 alleged rival gang members are facing charges. The takedown is the result of a two-year investigation. Gonzalez and the NYPD say those gang members are responsible for at least 19 shootings since 2020, two of which were fatal.
Officials say that the two gangs, Wooo and Choo, are responsible for killing two people and injuring 14 others, including a 3-year-old girl who was struck by a stray bullet while leaving a day care in March of 2022.
Gonzalez says that many of the alleged gang members showed no remorse, adding that they boasted about the violent shootings on social media and in music videos.
The 32 alleged gang members are facing 106 counts on a number of charges including murder. Gonzalez says some of those indicted could face life behind bars.
