A fire ripped though a Canarsie home Friday evening, claming the life of a 91-year-old woman and leaving two firefighters injured.
Fire officials say the blaze broke out at around 6 p.m. at 1174 East 95th St. Firefighters managed to get the flames under control within 30 minutes. They used a cherry picker to extract Eileen Drayton from her second-story window, but it was too late.
Drayton lived at the house with her family, but at the time of the fire she was home alone. Fire officials are working to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
Two firefighters received minor injuries while battling the blaze.
