A shooting caught on surveillance video has left one man dead and another fighting for his life in Cypress Hills. It happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday outside 2961 Fulton St. The video shows a man walking up to two other men on the sidewalk after an argument. Within seconds, he pulls out a gun and starts firing several times at close range. Both men are hit and fall to the ground. As it’s happening, another person can be seen standing nearby, watching. The person who fired the shots then puts the weapon away and walks off. Moments later, he steps into the street just as a police car is pulling up. People nearby point in his direction, trying to get officers’ attention. Officials say a 30-year-old man was shot multiple times and later died at the hospital. A 50-year-old man was also shot and remains in critical condition. The name of the man who died has not been released. People who live nearby say the video is hard to watch, especially knowing how quickly everything unfolded. “It’s very sad. I was in the house sleeping and I woke up to the news and I looked and I went, ‘Wait a minute, I was just over here talking to them last week Saturday,’” said Felicia, who has lived in the area for 12 years. “Why are you walking around with a gun... broad daylight, Easter Sunday... it’s crazy out here.” Authorities say someone is now in custody and is believed to be the person who fired the shots, but no charges have been announced.
