An announcement on whether New York City schools will close Tuesday will be made later Monday afternoon, Mayor Zorhan Mamdani said in an interview with News 12.
All New York City public schools were closed Monday because of the blizzard.
The mayor on Monday also said crews have been working tirelessly to fight the snow and keep the public safe.
“We had more than 500 emergency snow shovelers out last night and more than 800 joining them at the 8 a.m. shift this morning,” he said.
Mamdani said that last month’s snowstorm made the city better prepared for the current blizzard.
“We’ve utilized every single tool we’ve found to be effective last time around and then enhanced it,” he said.
