Demolition crews have started taking down a Carroll Gardens brownstone today after a portion of the building collapsed early yesterday morning. City inspectors say the century-old building at 2-41 Carroll St. is not structurally sound. Crews began removing the chimney from the building today. They plan to take down the building piece-by-piece because it's butted up against a neighboring home. According to the Red Cross, a total of 21 adults and six children were displaced because of yesterday's collapse. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
