Demolition crews have started taking down a Carroll Gardens brownstone today after a portion of the building collapsed early yesterday morning. City inspectors say the century-old building at 2-41 Carroll St. is not structurally sound. Crews began removing the chimney from the building today. They plan to take down the building piece-by-piece because it's butted up against a neighboring home. According to the Red Cross, a total of 21 adults and six children were displaced because of yesterday's collapse. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause. City officials say the building will be completely demolished within a week. Dozens homeless after Carroll Gardens building collapse
