4h agoThe Department of Health and Human Services has expanded the monkeypox vaccines eligibility and announced new appointments.
The vaccine is now available to anyone over the age of 18 who thinks they may have been exposed or has had more than one or an anonymous sexual partner.
By 4 p.m. Thursday, 30,000 new appointments will be made available online.
The department is also allowing more doctors to administer the vaccine, including dentists and optometrists.
The city is currently reporting over 3,000 monkeypox cases as of this week. Manhattan has the highest number of cases, followed by Brooklyn and then the Bronx.
However, the outbreak largely appears to be slowing down. The number of daily new cases has been declining since early August.
