The Department of Transportation is warning commuters of the dangers of travel during the first few days of daylight saving time.
The DOT took to Twitter to express some safety tips, saying, "Science shows just one lost hour of sleep combined with dark mornings makes this week especially dangerous."
It says serious crashes increase 30 percent during mornings of the week of daylight saving time, and drivers should remain aware of students who are leaving for school while it is still dark outside.
