The New York City Department of Health has issued a list of suggested New Year's resolutions for Bronx residents.
The list includes several items that many people struggle with: quit smoking, visit the doctor, loose weight, exercise, eat right, drink in moderation, reduce stress and plan for emergencies.
Experts say quitting smoking can possibly be the best thing a person can do for their health, saying lung function improves within 30 days.
The DOH will give away free nicotine patches Jan. 3 and Jan. 4 at the Staten Island Ferry Whitehall Terminal in Manhattan from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Residents can also get patches at Kings Plaza Mall Jan. 7 through Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
