Design proposals have been unveiled for two apartment towers slated to go up on the southern edge of Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The city and state approved a plan for the buildings nearly a decade ago with revenue from the housing expected to help pay to maintain the park.
The city says 14 design proposals are in the running.
Park officials expect to pick a design by the end of the year.
The project could break ground about a year later, if a pending lawsuit trying to stop the construction is resolved.
Some residents say the development in the area would create a lot of traffic and congestion and that the buildings would take away the aesthetics of the park
One building is expected to be about 31 stories tall. The other building is expected to be be about 15 stories tall.
