Two detectives killed in the line of duty were remembered Saturday in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The NYPD hosted the second annual Detective Liu and Detective Ramos Community Day to recognize Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, who were fatally shot inside their patrol car in December 2014.
"I miss him and I will keep his legacy alive for as long as I'm alive," said Ramos's wife, Maritza.
The event featured a basketball tournament. Each participating team represented an officer who died in the line of duty.
The goal of the event is to unite police and Brooklyn residents through food, music and laughter, and to stop violence in the community.
Detective Ramos's wife has started the Rafael Ramos Foundation to help families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
