A popular Brooklyn DJ is was at Herbert Von King Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant to promote the importance of staying in school.

Radio personality DJ Self, also known from VH1's reality TV show "Love and Hip Hop," partnered with 500 Men Making A Difference and other organizations to give away over 1,000 book bags during the Gwinin Gives event.

DJ Self also gave aspiring artists an opportunity to showcase their talent on stage.

"Aside from just talent, I want to give them also school supplies and different things so they can start their school year right," he says.
