Wednesday marks two years since Superstorm Sandy ripped through the borough, and health care workers say they are still helping those in distress from the storm.
Doctors with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York say they have helped nearly 27,000 people affected by Sandy with their Disaster Distress Response Program, which started back in April of 2013.
Many of those affected by the storm say the damage triggered hopelessness and depression. Others say they are also angry as their rebuilds are taking longer than expected.
Doctors with VNSNY say they try to help people emotionally rebuild themselves as they fix their homes.
Dcotrs say if you are feeling depressed this time of the year, be with the people who can help you through it. Keep in mind that if you don't have anything done, a rebuild could take up to three years after a storm like Superstorm Sandy.
