A New York City Department of Education employee has been arrested for allegedly hitting a student who has autism.
Aries Baluyot, 44, was arrested at P.S. K721 in Gravesend Friday, according to police.
Sources say a 20-year-old student with autism was hit multiple times with possibly a stick or ruler. They say it happened earlier this week on school property.
The student's father took him to Coney Island Hospital, where he was treated and released.
It is unclear what Baluyot's title is within the school. He faces second-degree assault charges.
The school is tailored to students with special needs.
