A new Department of Education report shows the city is gaining ground in its five-year plan to stop classes from busting at the seams.
According to the DOE, several schools participating in a special program to reduce the number of students in the classroom have been successful. The DOE wants to add more schools to the program.
Other schools, such as Brooklyn College Academy School and Brooklyn Generation School, continue to deal with overcrowding. The DOE found the average class size at the latter is 39 students.
The DOE claims the study contains the most detailed class size information to date. The study includes the total number of students in each school in each grade, along with other information.
