The New York City Department of Transportation wants to improve the safety of bicyclists by overhauling certain roads.
The DOT is making a commitment to build protected bike lanes on roads like the Pulaski Bridge.
The proposed lanes would include designated bike and walking lanes, and would actually break the record for the most protected bike lanes across New York City, with 15 miles total.
In 2015, 12 miles of physically protected bike lanes were installed as part of the Vision Zero plan.
