Downtown Brooklyn expects economic boost ahead of WWE WrestleMania 35
The WWE is everywhere around Brooklyn this week, leading up to WrestleMania this Sunday.
Merchants are expecting the event to provide a major boost to the local economy.
World Wrestling Entertainment has taken over the tri-state area before, but never like this. Over 80,000 people will pack MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this Sunday and the local economy can expect a boost.

In the past three years, WrestleMania has been big business for the cities that host it. WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans last year netted $175 million for the local economy. The year before in Orlando, a WrestleMania record $181.5 million and WrestleMania 33 in Dallas/Fort Worth raked in over $170 million.

When WrestleMania was in the tri-state area just six years ago, it pumped over $100 million into the local economy, but since Barclays Center had just been built, the Downtown Brooklyn area didn't really get to take advantage. That will not be the case this year as Downtown Brooklyn will host four big events in five nights.

Businesses around Barclays Center like Lizzie Kings and The Montrose are counting on it.

An employee at McMahon's Pub, no relation to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, told News 12 the crowds are larger than the biggest Islanders or Nets game, and they're expecting them every night this weekend.
