Staff and students at Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School held a day of celebration to honor the 94th birthday of the school’s founder on Monday.
The celebration included a series of presentations about Dr. Richard Izquierdo’s work and legacy. It also featured a special unveiling of his portrait in the school’s main lobby.
"Today we're celebrating the birthday of Dr. Richard Izquierdo,” said Lindsay Malanga, the head of the school. “He created this school for more students to be in the health care field, particularly students of color, and so we are celebrating his legacy."
