Drivers are being forced to hit the brakes along Pelham Parkway as a new construction project is proving to be a traffic nightmare.
Commuters complain they have to navigate several detours and squeeze into one lane where there used to be three on the eastbound side. The westbound side is facing similar problems, with three lanes being reduced to just two.
Officials say it will be worth it when everything is replaced, including worn out sidewalks and traffic signals. The Department of Design and Construction says the work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
