Neighbors took to the streets Wednesday to protest the rumored reopening of a nail salon in East Flatbush.
New Red Apple Nails on Nostrand Avenue was the site of a brawl more than two months ago. Video of the brawl went viral.
Christina Thomas, her grandmother Thelma Medley and another relative say they were attacked by multiple workers at the salon in August.
The brawl allegedly happened after Thomas says she refused to pay for an eyebrow job that she thought was poorly done. The argument escalated and the owners of the nail salon say that Thomas refused to pay for all of the services.
Medley says she was not connected to the protest but she hopes the reopening is just a rumor.
"We got treated wrongfully," Medley said. "It hurts talking about it right now--I am reliving it over and over again."
The district attorney's office initially charged 32-year-old Huiyue Zheng with assault, menacing, harassment and weapon possession for using a broom to hit Thomas.
As of Wednesday, prosecutors say those charges are pending and they dismissed the charges that were originally filed against Thomas.
