An East New York resident says she is experiencing mold in her apartment as a result of multiple water leaks.

Natasha Emery says she has filed 311 complaints but that the problem has been occurring for at least two years. She shared pictures with News 12 of what appears to be black mold from behind her cabinets in 2024.

"I went back and forth with calling 311. Every time I have to call them, it, you know, it came nerve-wracking," said Emery.

According to the New York City Housing Preservation and Development, there are roughly 124 complaints from her Linden Boulevard building. The complaints vary from mold, plaster peeling and slow leaks from the ceilings or walls.

Emery says recently the leaking issue has reached her apartment bathroom.

News 12 made multiple calls and left voicemails to the property manager of the building and is waiting for a response.

Emery says she fears the current condition of her apartment could be impacting her health.

"One week, had it so bad after my son and I, we went to the hospital all at the same time. He was sneezing and coughing, and I'm sneezing and coughing," explained Emery. "I just want to get help. I mean, you see the position I am in right now as well, there's not much I can do," she said.
