East New York gang leader sentenced to 23 years in prison

Quandel Smothers, 32, was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy and possessing a gun while drug trafficking.

The leader of a gang based out of East New York has just been sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Quandel Smothers, 32, was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy and possessing a gun while drug trafficking.
Smothers is among seven of the Elite Assassin Millas gang who have pleaded guilty to charges ranging from assault to murder.
Attorneys say that Michael Tenorio was murdered by the gang in 2015. It was one of many shootings Smothers and his gang took part in across East New York.
According to attorneys, the shootings were mainly between rival gangs.
