A steady stream of rain fell Wednesday as mourners paid their final respects to an East New York child whose mother faces charges in her death.
Relatives describe 3-year-old Kiana Rosado as a carefree, loving child who always smiled. Kiana was rushed to the hospital last week from her East New York apartment. An autopsy revealed that the child had suffered abuse and died from blunt force trauma. Family members and friends are questioning how they missed the abuse signs and whether they could have prevented the tragedy.
Jessica Rosado, 18, faces charges of criminally negligent homicide, manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. Rosado, who is about 7 months pregnant, is due back in court later this month.
