Edgewater Park's Volunteer Fire Department will be receiving millions despite the funds originally being set to expire next month.
Assemblyman Michael Benedetto says he got word that the state would be allocating $2.5 million for upgrades on the fire department a few years back, but says it was never dispersed.
Residents even started doing the renovations themselves. With the money at a standstill, they met with Benedetto - concerned they'd never see the money.
The assemblyman says he reached out to the governor's office and met with staff last week. He says he was assured the community will still receive them.
Benedetto says the state is on track to go into contract for the project in the coming weeks.
