Education Ambassador: EBC High School for Public Service special education teacher Carlos Olivieri
Carlos Olivieri is a special education math and science teacher at the EBC High School for Public Service in Bushwick, Brooklyn, a neighborhood hard hit by COVID.  He has taught for eight years and is in constant contact with parents and families from his school and its community.  He was honored in the 2019 Puerto Rican Day parade as “NYC Public School Teacher of the Year” for his continual community work done at his school site.
Carlos is known for raising more than $10,000 in fundraising to build the school’s very first recording studio where students have access to exploring digital media arts in film, photography, sound design and podcasting.  He embodies his school’s mantra of Public Service. And his body of work describes him as an advocate for children, an advocate for teachers, an advocate for his community, and an advocate for the progress of all Spanish people alike.
