An elderly man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer Tuesday while trying to cross Kings Highway.Witnesses say the driver had no way of seeing the man crossing East 24th Street. Onlookers yelled for the driver to stop, but not before the man was pushed under the tires.Officials say the victim was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.Neighbors are not surprised to hear about a pedestrian being struck. Many feel that the crosswalk lights are not long enough, leaving the elderly with little time to get across.
