Elected officials, community members call for inmates in state prisons to be vaccinated

Elected officials and community members gathered across from Edgecombe Correctional Facility to demand that inmates receive access to the coronavirus vaccine.
State officials have reported that over 5,000 inmates in state prisons have tested positive for the virus.
Demonstrators also called for effective and efficient testing and the required use of personal protective equipment by correctional staff.
Rallies also took place virtually and in person in front of Danbury Correctional Institution in Connecticut and in Buffalo.
