Sen. Chuck Schumer, alongside other elected officials, are pushing for an investment in a wind turbine assembly center at South Brooklyn Marine Terminal.
Sen. Schumer says this would be a big win for Brooklyn if approved. He says it will bring renewable energy and local jobs while supporting New York state manufacturing.
With new developments and commercial properties coming to the area, elected officials are pushing for the multimillion-dollar investment.
However, before that can happen, the city-owned South Brooklyn Marine Terminal would need $200 million in New York state support -- adding to the city’s commitment upward of $50 million.
News 12 is told that if this is approved, the assembly center could begin construction as early as 2022 and be completed by 2024.
