Community leaders marched in Bushwick Sunday, calling for more affordable housing for seniors.

Those affected by rising living costs marched alongside elected officials, asking the city to build 1,500 new units of senior housing on NYCHA land.

Rally organizer East Brooklyn Congregations said one of the options was 14 vacant lots in the Bushwick II housing complex.

"One of the few assets NYCHA has is its public land, and we intend to make sure that this public land is set aside for the public, maintained, 100 percent affordable preferably for seniors so they can live with dignity and respect as they get into retirement," says Grant Lindsay, of East Brooklyn Congregations.

NYCHA responded, saying they welcome having a conversation with residents on the possibility of developing on the site.
