Officials are offering small Bronx businesses destroyed in a five-alarm fire last month emergency grants in an attempt to help them get back on their feet.
Emergency grants are offered to qualifying small businesses that experience a major disruption to their operation. City officials are hoping that the money makes a difference.
?This is a way of the city saying we support you ? and we love you, and [we] need your business here in New York City,? said Bernadette Nation, of the Department of Small Businesses.
The August fire destroyed a salon, church, refrigeration business, liquor store and a bodega. Three of the owners have received grants of $1,000.
