Engaging situation: Man proposes at NYC Half Marathon finish line
A Brooklyn runner got a special surprise when she got to the finish line of the New York City Half Marathon on Sunday.
Joan Ayala had just crossed the finish line when her boyfriend of four years, Christopher Harper, was waiting on bended knee with a medal in his hands and an engagement ring in his pocket.
The proposal was captured on camera as Ayala was filled with emotion.
"Everything was planed our perfectly. I was like so surprised. I look over and everyone cheering my whole family, friends and his family. I was just so happy, best day ever," she says.
After months of looking for the perfect diamond ring, Harper says it was clear where he would propose.
"She always drops clues, and women sometimes think men don't pay attention to me them. I paid attention," says Harper.
The couple met on a dating site and shortly after, fell in love.
