Engine 271 Ladder Company 124 will cease overnight hours starting Saturday.
City officials say the cost-cutting maneuver will save $8.9 million. Overnight firefighters will not be laid off, but rather stationed elsewhere.
Engine 271 will continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
