Essence Magazine held its first-ever Street Style Award Block Party this afternoon in DUMBO.
With New York Fashion Week in full swing, Essence Magazine decided to celebrate style in what many say is the most fashion-forward borough, Brooklyn.
The Essence Street Style Block Party was a celebration of life, music, culture and everything fashion.
Residents who attended the event stepped out in their best signature styles and snapped photos of themselves.
The magazine's editor told News 12 that they picked Brooklyn as the venue because the borough has such a diverse community with cutting-edge style.
Organizers say that the event is hardly about competition. Instead, the day was about celebrating each individual's inner "fashionista."
