A former 94th Precinct police officer who has been stripped of his badge has now been sentenced to eight years in prison on nine different charges.
Vanessa Polycarpe was in tears Monday as her fiancé, 35-year-old Anthony Delacruz, was sentenced after being convicted on robbery, assault and falsely reporting an incident charges, among others.
Prosecutors say Delacruz robbed Justin Eilely at gunpoint outside a Bushwick nightclub in 2016, taking his clothes, jewelry and phone before pistol-whipping him and filing a false report against five other men.
Despite the conviction, Polycarpe says the district attorney got it wrong.
"It's all based on theories and assumptions period, not facts," says Polycarpe.
But as it stands, Delacruz will spend eight years behind bars, along with three years of supervision after being released. The ex-officer read a statement before sentencing, saying he's a kind person who only ever wanted to help people.
Delacruz's family says they plan to file an appeal.
The victim's mother and sister were also present at the sentencing. They did not want to speak on camera, but appeared relieved, especially when orders of protection were issued.
