News 12’s Asha McKenzie speaks exclusively with an employee at a Bedford Park gas station who was assaulted during a robbery last week.
M.D. Tuhin came back to his job for the first time since he tried fighting off three men that police say tried to rob the BP gas station store on Jerome Avenue last Thursday.
Tuhin showed News 12 the bruises he suffered during the scuffle with the thieves. He says he was trying to break up the fight between his 33-year-old coworker and the men allegedly robbing the convenience store.
Surveillance video shows the fight start at the door, as the 33-year-old employee tries to fend of the three subjects with what resembles a baseball bat after a bottle was thrown at him. Tuhin then steps in, and the suspects punch him as well as his coworker.
One of the suspects eventually got ahold of the bat and broke a fridge and a television on the way out.
Tuhin says this isn’t the first robbery there, but that it’s the first time he had ever become physical in one of these instances.
The other employee who was hurt by the alleged robbers was also scheduled to come back to work, but is still being treated for a broken thumb at Montefiore Hospital.
The three suspects are still being sought at this time, and police report that they fled the scene in a white BMW.
