A resident at the NYCHA Louis Heaton Pink Houses says water has been trickling down her bathroom walls for nearly a week, leaving her apartment damp and difficult to breathe in.
Glenda Hewitt exclusively told News 12 she filed a repair ticket as soon as the leak started last Friday but discovered Wednesday morning the ticket had been closed without a fix.
That's when she called News 12 asking for help.
“Look. It’s all here. It’s starting to bubble up,” she said, pointing to swelling paint and wet walls.
Hewitt said she was later told plumbers would come this weekend but claims no one reached her apartment on Wednesday.
“You asking for help and you not getting it. They told me it was just a leak. This is a leak?” she said.
A NYCHA spokesperson said plumbers were on-site Wednesday and are coordinating access to upper floors “to make repairs as soon as possible.”
Hewitt says she and her dogs have not been able to bathe comfortably since the leak began and worries the damage is spreading beyond the bathroom.
