Newly released surveillance video shows how one of several overnight store robberies unfolded, and investigators say the same group may be behind all of them.
The video obtained by News 12 comes from a store at 125 Kingston Ave. It shows two masked men walking up to the counter. One holds out a plastic bag, pointing it like a gun. The worker opens the register and places cash into an open bag. The group then leaves.
That incident is one of three robberies that happened earlier this month, all during late-night or early-morning hours, when stores are quieter.
Photos released from the incidents show four people investigators are trying to identify. Some appear to be wearing masks, and officials say the same people show up in video from all three robberies.
Here’s what’s known so far:
- Jan. 5, just after 1:15 a.m. — A store on Kingston Avenue in Bed-Stuy was hit. One person showed a knife while others took about $300 and small items like rolling papers and smoking cones before running off.
- Jan. 16, around 4 a.m. — Another store near Kingston Avenue and Bergen Street was targeted. The group acted like they had guns and took about $200. A fourth person was waiting outside.
- Less than an hour later — A store on New Lots Avenue in East New York was robbed. Three people went inside, again acting like they had guns, and left with about $300.
No one was hurt in any of the incidents.
