We are on your block in Midwood this morning, checking out the best place to grab a bite. Ok. So that's where we find our Nadia Glinda who is standing by at Sunset bagels and Nadia, the place has more to offer than your go to morning egg bacon and cheese. Right. Exactly. They have much more than bagels, although it was delicious. I'm standing by with Angelo. He's the co owner of Sunset Bagels. And now we're looking towards lunchtime, we're going to make a salad. Right. Absolutely. Yeah. Salads a huge item here. We chop salads and we do all the mixing here. So it goes over very well. We're going to make a Greek salad. Right. Yes. A Greek salad. What goes into that? The tomatoes, olives, red onions, grape leaves and balsamic vinaigrette dressing usually. And we're going to add some grilled chicken on top of it. It's a classic. Now, not every bagel shop offers salads, but you were talking earlier with me about how a lot of people are just really trying to be healthy these days. Yeah, we've been in the business for a while and we definitely need to have a lot more healthy options. We just used to be a lot of burgers and cold cut sandwiches for lunch. Now it's a lot of grilled chicken wraps, a lot of salads. A lot more healthy options for breakfast. It used to be a lot of only bacon eggs and cheeses. But now we sell a lot of oatmeals, egg whites, smoothies, shakes and you know what, who doesn't love a chopped salad? You guys also have paninis. You have burgers and you really have the gambling things. You guys are open 24 7. So people come to you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yeah. Yeah, we will be there with 24 hours. We have to have a big breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and we do tend to have a little bit of everything. We even make soups, which is a great seller as well. Awesome. Well, we're going to be here all morning long. You guys are really spoiling us. We've got the easiest job of the day. Don't tell the boss, but we're having a great time here with Angela. We're going to send it back to you ladies in the studio.

Falling back with News 12 here and we're on your block this morning in Midwood. Yeah, so that's where we find her Nadia Galindo, who is Avenue as Avenue J Flores. Nadia, those flowers look so beautiful. They look beautiful and they smell beautiful. In fact, this whole shop smells great because there's so many flowers in here. I'm standing by with Gus Bellios. He's the owner of the family owned and operated florist here in Midwood and Gus, you guys got so many beautiful flowers. We're going to make an arrangement right now. Talk about what we're making now. That's correct. Good morning, everybody. So over here we have Angelo, our designer. He's making us a beautiful arrangement for a delivery for today that consists of a multitude of different kinds of fresh florals starts from all over the world. You have flowers such as roses, hydrangeas, lilies, orchids, mini co lilies, uh, green hyperic berries all combined together to make a beautiful arrangement for a special someone, and you guys have been around for quite some time here in Midwood. That's correct. We've been around for not too long, but we've been around for about 95 years, 4 generations of the same family. My great grandfather, an immigrant from Greece, founded the business back in the 1920s, working out of a pushcart in the Bronx. He eventually moved over to Midwood and opened up the avenue. Jay Flores and since then has been in the family. Awesome. And talk about the flowers you have here. You get them from everywhere, right? That's correct. We source flowers from all over the world. We have vendors from South America, vendors in Holland, France, Italy. We source direct from the farm directly. So this way not only does it get you the most optimal, freshest product you could get, it also helps us keep a competitive rate against our competitors because it gives us a lower price point compared to everybody else. It also ensures that anything you're getting is farm fresh. directly to order. Nothing is held in shipment. Nothing is held for weeks like that, so it comes direct from the farm to our doorstep. Wonderful. So the flowers are just gorgeous. They smell so good. They've got the doors open, the fresh air coming in, and you can just tell that this is a neighborhood staple. We're on your block in Midwood this morning. And that's where news twelve's Nadia Galindo has been, she's been checking out all the best spots in the area. And right now she's at Pottery and Glassland which offers pottery painting and so much more. I'm in the glow room here at pottery and glass land and this is the place that people can come and spray paint on each other on the walls. They can have dance parties down here. They can even paint on a canvas under the black light pottery and glass land is well known for their wide variety of pottery painting. They're popular for all kinds of parties, including birthdays. And they also make a point to offer potter for holiday activities like to like accommodate everybody. So we'll have, um, you know, by Christmas, we'll put out some Christmas and you know, Hanukkah, we'll put out some Hanukkah and Passover and Valentine's Day. And our adventures in Midwood on your block continue today at Taste of AO. This restaurant is family owned and operated and they serve vegetarian Mediterranean. The owner Chaim Vin Simon uses the freshest ingredients for all of his recipes that include dishes from his home country of Israel mixed in with Mediterranean dishes from Greece Morocco and beyond, we got a chance to try everything from their famous falafel to the Baba Ganoush and even Kae its style of mix all the kind of Arab food and Israeli because when Israel we live with Arab, the same food, we eat the same food back here at pottery and glass land.
