Family, friends and loved ones gathered in Bedford-Stuyvesant today to demand justice in the case of a teen who was found murdered in 2006.
Chanel Petro-Nixon was 16 years old when she left her home one June day to fill out a job application at a restaurant nearby. She never made it home.
Four days later, her body was found in a garbage bag on Kingston Avenue.
Petro-Nixon was an honor students at Boys and Girls High School. Her family says she was quiet, studious and always caring for her friends and family.
Today, the teen's family and friends came together to vent their frustrations about the fact that her murder remains unsolved. They hoped that by gathering publicly, they could draw attention to her case, and urge someone who knows something to speak up.
Some elected officials, including Comptroller Scott Stringer, came to show their support.
News 12 contacted the NYPD to ask for the latest on the investigation, but has not yet heard back.
