Family and friends gathered Wednesday to say a final farewell to Tanaya Copeland, a teenager who was stabbed to death in East New York two weeks ago.
Her murder took place just blocks away from where a 6-year-old boy was also stabbed to death, and another child was seriously injured.
The 18-year-old nursing student was on her way to a friend's house in the neighborhood before she was found stabbed more than 30 times, possibly by the same man accused of stabbing the two children in a nearby elevator two days later.
Copeland will be buried at Cypress Hills Cemetery on Thursday.
No arrests have been made in Copeland's case. Police say they are looking into a connection between her murder and the elevator stabbing.
Daniel St. Hubert was arrested in that case last week.
