A 56-year-old retired NYPD officer is dead and several others are injured after a hit-and-run Thursday night in East New York.
Police say 24-year-old Michael McBean was driving erratically on Pennsylvania Avenue when he slammed into Yvette Molina, who reportedly retired from the NYPD in 2008.
Witnesses say McBean hit several cars before running into Molina and fleeing on foot. He has since been arrested and charged.
Officials say McBean has had his license suspended five times, including this past September.
Molina's neighbors say she was a kindhearted woman and animal lover who dedicated her life to service. She spent 25 years in the NYPD with the 77th Precinct.
