The family of the 8-year-old girl who was fatally crushed by a school bus does not want the city to pursue criminal charges against the boy accused of causing the bus to roll.

The 8-year-old boy is accused of sneaking into the bus, releasing the parking brake and causing the bus to roll over on Amber Sadiq. The girl died as a result of her injuries. The city may pursue criminally negligent homicide against the boy, however, his attorney is hoping for the lesser charge of juvenile delinquency.

The boy is currently undergoing mental health testing. His attorney says he knows he did something wrong, but does not understand that he contributed to the death of Sadiq.
